There are basically two ways to get to Florianopolis, depending on where they came from, tourists can take either a plane or a bus.
Onboard a plane, both international and domestic passengers will land in Florianopolis International Airport, which is located in Av. Diomício Freitas and is about 12 kilometers from the center of the city.
The only Brazilian airline that offers direct international – and some domestic – flights to the city is the TAM Airlines. It has flights from Milan, Madrid, London, Frankfurt, Miami, New York, and other main cities in South America. Gol, Azul, and Oceanair are meanwhile the airlines offering domestic flight services to the city.
Via bus, Rodoviaria, the main bus company in Florianopolis, should take you in and around the city. Situated in Av. Paulo Fontes, the buses of the company links Florianopolis to Brazil’s main cities, and most cities of the state of Santa Catarina.
