Blumenau is found on the southern region of Brazil and is one of the cities of Santa Catarina. It is a city in Vale do Itajaí which is heavily influenced by German and Italian culture due to its ancestry. It has two districts and 33 neighborhoods and it is very easy to go to the city and get around.
By Plane
You can get to Blumenau by plane through its Quero-Quero airport. You can choose from the major airlines available. These are Varig Brazilian Airlines, Viagco Area Sco Paulo and Gol Transportes Aeros. There is also the Ministro Victor Konder International Airport that has flights from Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo. Aside from these two, you can also take a flight from Santa Catarina through the Internacional Hercílio Luz which is in Florianópolis. But from here you must take a bus to get to Blumenau.
By Bus
There are a lot of bus companies offering trips to Blumenau. If you are coming from Sao Paulo you can take a bus that costs about R$100.00. This would take you 10 hours to get to Blumenau. If you wish to travel from Blumenau to its neighboring areas though, you can just go to the Blumenau bus station which is open 24 hours a day. They even have amenities such as free bathrooms, showers, and diners. Some of the operating companies that are stationed at the Blumenau bus station are Empresa Nossa Senhora da Penha, Empresa União Transportes, and Auto Viação Catarinense.
