Bars
There is a wide range of bars in the city, from those which are themed to those that simply offer a place to hangout and chat with friends.
Among the top bars in the city are All Black, Astor, and Bar Brahma.
Located in Jardins, All Black (011/3088-7990) is an Irish pub that boasts of its various international beer brands. The place is decorated with different Irish soccer stuff and a New Zealand flag representing the roots of one of bar’s owners.
Astor (011/3815-1364) on the other hand, which is situated in Vila Madalena, is a themed bar that sends tourists back in time with its 60s and 70s bohemian-styled interior. It serves meals, snacks, and a good draft beer. One of the bars specialties is the picadinho à astor which is beef stew with rice, poached eggs, black beans, farofa, banana, and beef pastel.
Inaugurated in 1949, Bar Brahma (011/3333-0855) used to be the rendezvous of politicians, artists, and other intellectual people. Located in Centro, the bar has a mid-20th Century theme as manifested by its lamps, furniture, and a piano very true to the time. The bar is one of the city’s best places for those looking for live music, especially during Thursdays and Sundays.
Dance Clubs
If you are looking for a place to put on your dancing skills to a “test”, Sampa just have a wide list for you.
Aside from being a nightclub Ampgalaxy (011/3085-7867) in Pinheiros is a clothing store, lounge, and bar as well. Open on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the club is a place for those wanting to dance to the tune of techno, electro, house, punk, and alternative rock music played by its DJs.
Blue Space (011/3666-1616), which is located in Barra Funda, is one of São Paulo’s largest gay nightclubs. Open on weekends, the club has four bars and two dance floors. It also has private rooms and lounge for guests wanting a sense of exclusivity.
For those who are into American and Brazilian country music, Villa Country (011/3868-5858) should be on your to-visit list. With an Old West theme, the club is open from Thursdays to Sundays.
